July has been so special because two of my longtime friends, Brice and Nadia got very special news this month…that they are going to Rio for the 2016 Olympic Games and will be part of the opening ceremony! My small buddies Brice and Nadia have been coming to RMH Houston even before I was born…that’s a long time!
Brice and Nadia had no idea about the surprise, so we planned to tell them during a huge Road to Rio party at the House that we were having for all the families. We did a full pretend opening ceremony with pool noodle torches, had athletic activities from the pool noodle javelin toss to balloon tennis, and ate some very yummy snacks. We had several special guests join us including Olympic speed skater Chad Hedrick – he was awesome and even brought along a real life Olympic torch – and Olympic gymnast Jonathan Horton. My best buddy from the Houston Dynamo Andrew – who is both a House volunteer and a player for the team – came and introduced me to a new friend, Chi Ubogagu, playing for the Houston Dash soccer team. Even Eddie Adams, head coach and father to Olympic swimmer Camille Adams, stopped by with momentos for the kids.
Then, in comes my buddies Logan and Mary Frances, but you all probably know them better by Miss Houston and Miss Teen Houston 2016! I had a lot of fun escaping the paparazzi and landing a few sneaky kisses on unsuspecting athletes. A few days later, I went to Lufkin, Texas, near Brice and Nadia’s hometown where they were having a community send off party for them at the local McDonald’s. It was so much fun, I even had my very own ice cream cone.
I hope you watched my small friends as they represented friendship, unity, and togetherness in the Olympics opening ceremony. I was so proud watching them walk alongside flag bearers from around the world.
Now, time for some rest. Playing all day is simply EXHAUSTING.
Love and sneaky kisses,
