Click here to shop our wish lists and help keep our pantries and shelves stocked for families.
Help us keep our expenses down and our inventories stocked by collecting items that our families need the most. All donated items must be new and not used, due to the immune systems of the children staying in the House. You can click here to visit our wishlist page and see what our top needs are. We will issue a receipt for the item(s) donated. It is the responsibility of the donor to place a value on the donated gift per IRS regulations.
Vehicle & Boat Donations
If you’ve got an old car (or boat) lying around, consider donating it to a great cause and help keep families at Ronald McDonald House Houston together while their seriously ill child is in hospital. We’ll pick up your vehicle at no charge, and you can claim a tax deduction on your donation. Please fill out this form to donate your vehicle to RMH Houston. To learn more about our program and how it benefits our families, please contact the Director of Development at 713-795-3560 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Collecting aluminum pop tabs from soup and soda cans is an easy and fun way to get your family or organization involved in supporting our mission. We recycle the pop tabs and use the proceeds to support our daily operational costs. Everything you need to know for promotion, collection and delivery for your project is available here.
Other Monetary Ways to Give
One of the simplest and most meaningful ways to raise money for the children and families at Ronald McDonald House Houston is by building your own online fundraising page through Firstgiving. It’s so easy – just create a page, fill out your profile so people know who you are, what your connection to the House is, your goal for fundraising, and most importantly – why you are doing this. Once you’ve created your page, share it with friends, family, and coworkers and ask them to sponsor you. Online fundraising is always more fun with a dose of healthy competition, so challenge your friends, co-workers, organization or even yourself to reach a goal and help us continue to make RMH Houston a home away from home. Your philanthropic legacy represents your core values and reflects how you want to be remembered by your friends, family, and community. Having a Planned Giving strategy is a way for you to incorporate charitable giving into the legacy you leave behind while enjoying financial benefits in the present. Unlike cash donations, Planned Gifts are typically made from assets in your estate rather than from disposable income, and come to fruition upon your death. There are many ways to give a Planned Gift: leaving a bequest in your will, designation of your retirement plan, outright gift, a gift of life insurance, or the remainder of a donor advised fund or grant from your foundation. A misconception is that planned giving is only for the “wealthy.” The truth is, even people of modest means can make a big difference through planned giving. To get started, contact our Ronald McDonald House Houston Director of Development email@example.com and work with your legal or financial advisors to make arrangements.
Stock or securities gifts go towards the same great cause, our children and families, but carry extra benefits not associated with gifts made by check, cash, or credit card. You avoid capital gains tax, receive credit for the full fair market value of the shares (even though the cost to you is the original purchase price), and your charitable deduction is based on the full fair market value of the shares on the date the gift is made. For complete instructions on how to donate stock to RMH Houston, please review this PDF.
Many employers will match charitable donations made by their employees, so that every time you make a donation, your company will make a donation to the charity in the same amount. To participate, stop by your human resources office for a matching gifts form and either submit electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail it to: Ronald McDonald House Houston 1907 Holcombe Blvd. Houston, TX 77030.
Purchase Mogie Books
Mogie is a ball chasing, tail-wagging, moon-howling pup…but did you know that he’s also the star of a new children’s book written by Kathi Appelt and illustrated by Marc Rosenthal? You can purchase the book from an RMH Houston location for $15 or order online in hardcopy, digital, or audio format. The best part is that RMH Houston receives a share of the proceeds, so the children and families at the House directly benefit from every purchase.
