What is the Pop Tab Program?
Ronald McDonald House Houston has been involved with the Pop Tab Program for more than six years. Recycling the pull tabs from your beverage cans is a fun and easy way to become involved with the House. Over the years it has proven to be one of our most popular fundraisers. Through the continued support of individuals, corporations and organizations the Pop Tab Program brings in an average of $8,000 a year!
How do Pop Tabs Help the House?
The little tab used to pull open your can of soda can make a huge difference for the families staying at RMH Houston. The aluminum can is valuable, but the tabs are cleaner to collect and take up less space. You could actually pull the tab off for RMH Houston and then recycle the entire can for yourself or another charity. The money received from recycling pull tabs helps support the operations of RMH Houston. This money is used to purchase food for the family food pantry, cleaning supplies, and to provide van transportation to and from the Texas Medical Center for the families.
How Can I Participate?
First, start collecting the tabs! Store them in any handy container, or contact RMH Houston and we will send you RMH collection "houses" (maximum of six) to place around your home, school or business. THIS IS FOR HOUSTON AREA GROUPS ONLY.
Second, drop the tabs off at the House! Drop the tabs off at Holcombe House from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. with our Front Desk volunteers. We invite you to take the time to tour the House and see how your efforts are helping.
Third, mail the tabs to the House!
