Sharing the strength of our home.
About Our Houses and Locations

Welcome Home

Since we opened our doors in 1981, we've offered a home away from home to families of children undergoing treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses at Texas Medical Center member institutions. Each year, thousands of children are treated in Houston for serious illnesses, many of them and their families traveling great distances. Understandably, the concern and anxiety their families experience during such times are heightened by the stress of lengthy hospital stays, months of outpatient treatment, and the expense of being away from home for extended periods.

Houston's Ronald McDonald House answers their special needs by offering caring, home-like environments where they have the privacy they need while finding support and sharing their experiences and concerns with others who are also undergoing the trauma of childhood illness. We offer three such Houses or facilities with ancillary services in the Texas Medical Center of Houston.

In addition to these facilities Houston's RMH operates a Cookie Corner Program inside the Children's Cancer Hospital at M.D. Anderson. Once a week, an RMH Cookie Corner volunteer bakes chocolate chip cookies in the lounge kitchenette on the 9th floor of the Children's Cancer Hospital. The aroma of freshly baked cookies provides a measure of comfort and familiarity to families, while also bringing together families experiencing similar challenges for communal support and solace. This simple program is a resource for sharing information regarding other RMH services.

Holcombe House
Located at 1907 Holcombe Boulevard, Holcombe House provides a 50-bedroom home away from home. The three-story brick building includes a large communal living area, an eight-station kitchen, special needs kitchen, dining room, playrooms, laundry room, outside play area, and even a one-room Houston Independent School District school.

Texas Children's Hospital
Inside Texas Children's Hospital (TCH), Houston's Ronald McDonald House helps care for families with children in the Neonatal, Pediatric and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units. The TCH House offers a large kitchen and living area, a private quiet room, laundry area and 20 sleep/nap rooms with private baths. The space is designed to give parents a place to rest or spend the night. This RMH facility in particular serves many Houston area families.

Also within TCH, we offer three Family Rooms for families whose children are undergoing treatment in the Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant inpatient section, the Cancer Center's Outpatient Clinic, and RMH Cardiovascular ICU. All three Family Rooms have areas with comfortable seating, entertainment centers, as well as kitchenettes for use by volunteers and families.

Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital
Inside Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital (CMHH), Houston's Ronald McDonald House provides a two-floor, 14-bedroom home away from home area for families with children in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units. The facility has two family lounge areas as well as laundry facilities.
